I have a really great friend who sells me stuff for cheap. Sometimes she even gives it to me. I got my big onyx and vine of flowers ring from her. Anyway, she showed me this brooch today and asked me to take a look at it.
I took it to my friend, Geri, for an acid test. There is a 750 stamp and another mark.
I went back to my friend and told her: "This is an 18K gold and sapphire brooch with a scrap value of approx. $400.00"..
"You're lying!" she said, with a big smile. LMAO!
Now that she knows what it is...what to do with it? We'll figure out something.
Thanks for looking/loving, friends!
My first thought was : pretty costume jewellery. It is so hard to recognise the valuable pieces, especially for the untrained eye, like me.
Fantastic! At least she is lucky you didn't grab it for 2.5$, lol!
;-))
kyra - I didn't even get a chance to see it! We were at the same market but went in opposite directions. I'm happy she got it - she just doesn't know what she will do with it now because it's not something she would wear.
martika - the stall holder apparently thought it was costume jewelry, too!
That's how I ended up with my 18K gold Rolex ring for 50 cents.
Ken - I wish you could have seen her expression when I broke the news....
Wow! What a wonderful surprise to your friend!!!!
Oh wow Bonnie, what a find! Being that you can't figure out what to do with it, send it to me LOL
Scott - She certainly was surprised!
Hahaha Rick! Good luck with that idea....
:-))))))
It's beautiful!!! Great find for your friend....I think your bargain hunting skills must have rubbed off on her!!!!
Its good to have such good friends! And that brooch is very nice.
