I found this baby doll in the attic the other day, and I feel sorry for her because she's a mess!
In any event, I have been trying to find out who she is, etc. and I was told:
"This is a 1962-68 Crying Thumbelina doll made by the Ideal Toy Company.
The mouth is shaped that way so that her thumb will fit in her mouth.
The eyes would have been painted in but it looks like a harsh cleaner was used and it removed the painted surfaces."
Well, I can't find another Thumbelina which has plastic/painted on hair, and there is no knob -- which I remember from my own youth -- so I'm not sure that's right.
Can anyone help me figure it out?
She's got a cryer in her stomach and "Ideal Dol" is the only thing I can see on the back of her neck. (That's not a typo. That's how worn this baby is._
I would so appreciate any clues, as well as advice on how to clean her up without hurting her worse.
Thanks in advance.
I need better photo more upright to see hair style . Also what body look like .
I'm not sure how to upload more photos, or if it's allowed, but I put them on my own site here:

Each of the "Ideal.Baby" links shows a different shot.
Is there a way to include photos in the comments?
I looked at photo's . You can add them to this post under edit and you can add 3 more photo's to this post . What dos back of neck say ? Like a OTT or some numbers ? There was a Thumbelina with vinyl hair called a crier .Almost looks like hair was repainted on yours . I would like to see her face with her sitting up .
Thank you, Manikin.
I put a sitting up picture in the original post.
The only markings visible on the back of her neck are:
IDEAL DOL
The rest, including the second L, has been worn off.
I don't know the doll's history at all, though it must've belonged to someone in my family. Any one of them could have tried to paint the hair back on.
