I decided to return to Volunteer's of America today in hopes of finding a painting I had to leave behind on Friday. When items aren't priced they will not do it for you on the spot. It goes back to production and they don't work on the weekends. So it's probably gone but it may turn up after the holiday weekend and everyone goes back to work. I did find this interesting vase as a consolation prize though. I have several pieces of this Scavo (excavated) glass and it's usually Italian. Not sure about this one though as it's a bit over the top with all the applied decoration. Still it's a beautiful color and form with all the pearl iridescent decor. It's about 7" tall and 7" in diameter. The top measures 4" across. So it's a good size and quite attractive. -Mike-
fantastic find!!
Thank you Sean :)
I'm lovin this Mike. I like the mysterious pieces.
Thanks One it is unusual. :)
molto bello
Mille grazie Kivatinitz :)
Thanks so much Lisa you too. :)
I agree Mike it is unusual but real nice! What I love the most, is the applied medallions... very different and very cool! I'm not too sure about the corroso though, it's typically a much rougher texture and would be found on the entire piece.
Thanks Rick ...the sides are really rough and grooved almost like it's been sand papered but the neck and shoulders are a lot smoother by comparison. So it kind of defies description. It's a bit of everything...lol. :)
That's what throws me Mike... Typically Corroso and Scavo cover the entire vessel. In the case of Scavo, the idea is for the entire piece to look as if it had been lying underground for centuries. At least that's Murano's take on it...
SEASON's GREETINGS to YOU & YOURS MIKELV !!! ! !!!
Thanks so much Kevin ...and to you as well...Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year ! :)
