36+ years old Bassett 9 drawers Dresser with 2 tall mirrors with carvings on the front. I need help on identifying what type of wood it is. There is a chance that this more than 36 years old. How many years should it be to be considered antique? We purchased this from a friend 21 years ago and he said that his was previously owned by his parents about 15 years, easy math 36 years but I'm curious to find how many years old is my dresser?

To be an antique the item has to be 100 yrs. old. Bassett Furniture Industries is still in existence, though it has gone through many changes.

Why not send your photos to the Company, and hopefully they'll answer your questions.

Yes to be antique, item should be 100 + years old.

Anything of LESS years than that is consider * Vintage*. I would say you have a *Vintage* item as it is LESS than 100 years old. Looks to be from around the Mid 1970's - 1980's era +/-, and not hand-carved.....Machine made, mass produced in those days - in my opinion.
