This is a lamp I recently bought for $10 at a garage sale. I was very surprised when I got home and researched it on the web. It is a genuine Henry Cahieux design produced by Ferdinand Barbedienne in France during the mid 19th century. It is signed by both the artist and manufacturer. It is in remarkable condition with only two minute chips on the base. Apparently these lamps sell for thousands of dollars.
It makes you wonder how something this extraordinary made it through the years and now sits in my living room. I wish I knew it's life story.
I have another post of another lamp that I purchased with this one from the same garage sale for $5. It is listed as an unsolved mystery as it has no manufacturers marks.
