I have had this bowl for a few years now but only just realised I have not posted it.

This is a Toshichi Iwata designed and made bowl and is a great example of the influence he had on Japanese art glass.

The shape of the bowl carried over to many other glass artists and in slightly different forms it appears from a number of Japanese glass studios.
To us now the shape seems common. In the early 50s, in Japan, it was not.

I like the muted murkiness here. It is appealing to me because I can see it's relationship to Japanese pottery, the first and greatest design influence for Japanese art glass.

Well find, maybe only I can see the relationship, but I admit to be one eyed lol! Thanks for loving.

I don't know how you do it so often Peggy, but you come up with just the right phrase for glass....I wish I had said that first! Hidden depths - yep.
      Thanks:) I will steal that!

I'd like to steal Peggy's phrase, too, but describing a knife as having "hidden depths" might have negative connotations!!!

Lol Blade!!! Could be problematic, but try it and see what the response is!!
