I got this at a yard sale and the lady of approximately 70 years old said she had bought it from a girl down near Nisqually, Wa. but she did not know if it was of any local tribes and could not tell me really anything about it. She said she got it about 40 years ago. I would loved to know for sure and maybe a dollar amount they go for. Thanks

All I can tell you is that it definitely isn't Native American. No American Indian basket makers use this particular combination of materials, weaving techniques, colors, and form. The braided handle technique is a type found in Mexico, Central and South America, and some Pacific islands. The spoke-like start is commonly found on Asian baskets. The square-woven knob is often found on African baskets from Namibia. But none of those are found on any Native American baskets.

Can you tell me how to reply to the people when they comment. I don't see any reply links. My email is ddrdon1955@yahoo.com I also need to know how to re-subscribe to emails getting to me. I hit the unsubscribe link accidently.

Once you're signed in to CW, there should be an "Add a comment or question" box at the bottom, and below that, a box to check for Email when someone comments.

I think the problem may be that the "keep me signed in" option isn't checked. That happened to me a few times.
