I picked this up in Goodwill last week. It is a detailed carving of the head and shoulders (not the shampoo) of a man with Asian features. It is dark polished wood. I don't know what type. It measures approx 200mm in height and 175mm across at the base. Can anyone help me find the area and approximate date of this piece?
Philippines. You would have to research the headpiece to determine tribe.
Igorot Bontoc, probably. How weird - here is one that I sold a couple years ago and I found it NOW on someone's Pinterest! WEIRD!

or is it from Indonesia ??? Balinese.
It is a fine piece of carving. Love it !!!!
vetraio50 I thought Bali also. But most likely Philippines.
I think that the headband is typically Balinese called an Udheng aka udeng or destar. The facial features are Balinese too.
Very finely made, almost looks like bronze!
I was thinking Balinese as Vetraio.
Love your statue :-)
I don't think it's Igorot, Bali gets my vote.
beautiful!!
