On the face the clock has the name Kaiser and West Germany is inscribed on the back. This was part of an auction purchase I made at a charity auction about a year ago so I have no idea of its origin. I would like to know anything about the manufacturer or the time it was made. Any ideas on the value of the clock would be greatly appreciated. It's not something handed down from the family, so I am curious of its value. It does work, although I have not gotten the alarm to work. That may be an operator error however........

Your clock's origin was inscribed on the back: West Germany. West Germany is now part of Germany, but prior to German reunification in 1989, the country of Germany was split into two parts, East and West Germany. This occurred after World War II when the Soviet Union invaded Germany from the east to attack Berlin, and the other allies, Britian, France, and America, invaded Germany from the West.

When Germany was defeated, the Soviet Army refused to withdraw its forces from any of the countries it had invaded as it went after Germany - this became the start of the so-called "Cold-War".

It was only after the Soviet Union began falling apart in 1989 that its grip on its satellite countries finally loosened. At that time, people in East Germany had enough and together with West Germans, took down the Berlin Wall, and basically began the long reunification process.

From this, we can date any item marked "West Germany" with a date range from 1947 to 1989. That's the period when your clock was manufactured.

As to value, the best way is to go on Ebay and check "Completed Auctions". Look for ACTUAL SALES. And see how much your clock went for - and remember - look for actual selling amounts. Many times clocks don't sell - you don't want to count those auctions - you only want to count auctions where they actual SOLD.

For the alarm - make sure you wound the alarm spring, and you pulled out the alarm button. Those two things need to be done for the alarm to function.

      Good Luck!

So happy to be able to ask about this as my search thus far has been in vain. It's a 10"x6"x2" glass bottle with a clock made right through the bottle. It has the appearance of possibly being a liquor bottle as there is a hole at top where it looks like a cork may have been. Kaiser is in cursive and underlined under the 12 and under the 6 Made in Germany. On the back ARCO West Germany. There is also the winder, and the clock is ticking, but can't get a grip on the small, central pin to set time. Suppose it's possible moisture has rusted it tight though there is no outward sigh of that. My husband's parents passed away this year and this was amongst their things. So..would you have any information about this item?
Thanking you in advance for your time and trouble, -Bev

commentkenroberts55- I have tried searching ebay and many other auction sites over the past year with no luck. I have not been able to find a clock that looked even similar to this one which is why I posted on here. Thank you for your help though, I appreciate it. I would like to find any information on the name Kaiser even, but haven't been able to find it.

Beverly Love- I have no idea about your clock. I am looking for information on the one I have, sorry. If I find any information on the manufacturer Kaiser, I will be happy to share it with you.

Beverly Love- also, you might have better luck if you posted a picture of your item rather than give a description.

A lovely clock, I think it would probably be worth 45€, encountering the broken spring. A very nice clock!
