Hello CW friends!!
Today, we have a couple of my fox hunting whip hangers. No, these are not the original Black Forest carvings, but nice replicas.
These would have been used to hang your whip on after a day of fox hunting. The original hooks would have been actual Chamois goat horns and the body would have been hand carved of Black Forest wood, complete with their own double barrel shotgun and dagger. Many actually had glass eyes. These are made entirely of cast aluminum. These came unpainted. So, please try and overlook my sloppy paint work.
I've always wanted to own the real thing, but the budget just hasn't allowed as the real Black Forest carvings go for very high dollar amounts.I have these mounted on the back of my house. The hunting horn is a true vintage hunting horn made of copper and brass and still works quite well.
