Hi,
The antique gold bracelet was given to me in 1981 as a high school graduation gift from an Estate which my parents purchased it from. They knew I had an appreciation for antique collecting. They were advised by the Attorney for the Estate that the bracelet was over 100 years old. After all these years I would love to find out what I can about the bracelet. The year? What kind of gold? I am not sure if it's 14k or 24k. The bracelet has only one marking. What does the marking represent? I can say that the gold is soft because over the years it would bend easy. The shape is distorted. Should I even think of bringing it to a jewelry to correct or leave it as is? Is there an Antique Specialty Jewlery I should see in my area who could fix the bent areas? This is the only gold bracelet I own and wear it almost every day. I do not wear it to garden I promise Lol.
I love it, as I appreciate the detailed workmanship and that I received it from my parents. I recently lost my Dad in February so it means even more.
Thank you,
Rita
mark looks like a 1 and 0 with a k in between 10k??

Dizzydave, Thank you for your comments. I checked out the link but my bangle bracelet design is flat not raised. Do you think the link would still apply for my bangle bracelet? I looked at the hallmark again and yes that's a K. Interesting how it was marked between the numbers. I always thought my bangle was either 14 or 24, but never 10.
Thanks again,
Rita
Take your bracelet to a reputable jeweler and have it tested for gold content. If you have it rounded out then it will only become distorted again from constant wear.
Can't tell you if there is a specialist in your area because nobody knows where you live.
Efesgirl Thank you that's good advice. I live in San Diego, California.
You're welcome. I'm in the Netherlands. The last time I was in San Diego was in 1973. :-))))
Efesgirl WOW your a long way from San Diego.
San Diego has changed so much since 1973. It's even busier and more buildings. As you know we have the best weather, but we do wish for more rain in the Winter.
Thank you for your note.

This site says the way your bracelet is marked makes it Victorian era.
