@ 1950 DREKO sportsmans camp knife.
this is another of my 5 dollar flea market finds. this is a 1 owner knife with its original plastic pouch. its looks new, and im really happy with its condition.

1 of these is posted on ebay right now. asking price... 65 bucks. it doesn't look near as good as this 1, and has no pouch. this thing, especially with its pouch, has great collectability.

the drekos are german made. even though, there are no marks describing them as such.

Your sportsmen must be planning on doing a lot of drinking. :)

Technically it's a "sommelier's" knife. The hooked blade at the end is a wire-breaker for champagne bottles, used before they wired the corks down with twist-off wires as they do today, and putting a beer can punch on the cork-jack is a nice touch! One source says Dreko is from the GDR - East Germany - so that narrows production dates down a lot. My cutlery library has nothing, so they may have been a specialties manufacturer rather than cutlery-specific. Cheers!

wow, thanks for the info ron. funny you mentioned east Germany. the fella I got it from is 66 yrs old from Bulgaria. ive talked with him a few times on his old knives. hes got 1 more I haven't seen yet, itll soon be mine. its a bowie knife supposedly in mint condition. he is bringing it to me in a few weeks. cant wait to see that 1. guys had some of these knives for many many years. ive been privileged to get them.

but this 1 is just as sweet. and I am sure glad to own it. wish he had more like them. he has a handful that are irish , Austrian, and Bulgarian made. but im tTRYING to keep it german.. mm mm
