Pretty, pale blue porcelain lamp with raised white design of a swan swimming in rippled water. Lamp has bronze base and straight prong plug. Lamp stands approximately 17" tall at top of socket; vase section is 12 1/2", base 1 3/4" tall and 5" across. There are no markings that I can find. Lamp has a three way switch, base has three supports which attach center post to bottom edge of base. My mom thinks it is from the 1940's or 1950's. I have looked on numerous sites and been unable to identify maker or age. Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks!

Agree w/ your mom on the production date range, 1940s to 50. It's pottery, not porcelain. Can you tell if the clay color of the body is gray or white? If gray, look toward the following companies as possibilities: Chadwick, Princeton, Coventry, Crownford. All are USA made. Only a few companies used a pre-fire tint in their slip. Those are the only four I know of.

      art.pottery,
Thanks so much for the info. I took the lamp apart to look inside and it appeared to be the palest shade of gray, almost white. Upon your suggestion I looked up work from the other companies and found several vases from Chadwick that appeared to be the same shade of blue with the white stylized swans as handles and also had the very high gloss glaze as does my lamp! So nice to know a bit more about the origin as I find it was a very short lived pottery 1945-1946. Thanks again! Vida2L
