An old man from Wisconsin gave this to my brother and he has had it hanging on a wall, but can't figure out anything about it. Any help identifying at least its possible origin would be appreciated! 65" x 52"

All I can tell you is that it isn't Native American, based on the fact that it has fringe on the sides. Hopefully someone who specializes in tribal rugs from other countries will see it and be able to give more help. A close up photo to show how the weaving was done will probably be necessary...that's usually more important than the pattern or design, when it comes to identification.

Thanks, CanyonRoad! I'll ask him for a close up of the weave. :)
