This Alexander Ritchie silver ring features two snakes intertwined in a Celtic knot pattern. It's hallmarked for Birmingham 1936 (M) and has the AR, IONA and ICA (Iona Celtic Arts) marks.
Ritchie's rings are quite rare, probably because less rings survived than the brooches, pendants and other pieces. I'll put a clickable link in the comments below with further info from the Alexander Ritchie website.
I was deleting a lot of old saved searches off eBay recently, and clicked on one that found me a Ritchie sleeper many years ago, but nothing since.
Up came this ring with a Buy Now of 15 quid. The seller's listing said she thought it was bought by a family member on Iona 80 years ago. The pic was clear of the ring and the marks and it already had 3 watchers.
I clicked the Buy Now as fast as I could and decided to keep that old saved search.
Here's the link to this piece on the Ritchie web site (2nd one down): http://www.alexander-ritchie.co.uk/ring.htm
I would've clicked "Buy Now" too! What a nice ring.
Wow, what a great buy Kiwi!!!! Well done, it is lovely...... I have one that I bought about 5 years ago with the ship on it.....Birmingham hallmarked K for 1934.......but I like your snake more than my ship!!!!
