Two days ago I found this beauty in a charity shop, when I spotted it my heart skipped a beat. And the price was very nice too, £5.99. Sadly it is only just a pedestal, I still have to find the planter. In near perfect condition, it has fine crazing (in my eyes crazing just adds to the appeal of the pottery) and few tiny specks of plaster or paint? But I think these are removable without damaging the glaze. Around 16'' (41 cm) tall, on the lower half has an iridescent glaze finish. It is a typical Victorian British majolica piece. The stand has no marks, only just a registration number, according to it the patent was registered in 1895. So the item can't be much younger.
I would be very pleased if somebody can tell me the manufacturer of the pedestal and the pattern or shape, so I can easier find a matching planter. I was thinking about Minton, but they usually marked their pieces. Thank you beforehand!!!
fantastic vase !! beautiful!!!
This is super! I think the possibility of finding the manufacturer is pretty small unless you can trace the registration number.
Majolica miniature pedestals / columns in shades of green with impressed registered number - "263166" circa 1895
Thank you Sean, Bonnie and Nicefice for your nice comments and love clicks!
Maybe it is possible to trace the registration number, but I have to pay to have an online access to the old archives but there is still no guarantee I will find that particular manufacturer.
Thank you Dave, I knew the year of registration, but I would like to know the manufacturer :)
A beautiful bargain you got there! And another hunting aim: find the convenient planter!
Waiting for finding it, I'd put on it a huge fish bowl with a plant scenary inside :-)
Thanks Kyra :) It would look nice!!!
Wondering if its not McCoy??
going to be a hard one, 4 yrs before McCoy, hummmm
I don't know anything about Roseville pottery, except it's American. When I looked up green majolica planters, some of theirs were quite similar to the style of my stand. But why it would have a British registration number?
Bretby is a possibility too.
Roseville ????
That would be an English registry mark. That sequence is found in the 1895 Sept. 26-1896 June 11 group.

Thank you all for your efforts to solve this mystery! Vetraio50, you mentioned Bretby. I looked it up and found one Bretby planter with a very similar acanthus pattern, called Princess. I can't fully download the page.
Mary what a nice pedestal, I love the way the glaze graduated from Dark Green to Lime colour.
Gorgeous piece of pottery.
Regards
Alan
Thank you Alan for your nice comment !!! I find it gorgeous too.
Worth a shot it the dark I guess:

Thank you OGF, the planter certainly would go well with the pedestal. Same colours, but I think the pattern is different. But visually would be a nice match.
Lovely green!
