This was my Grandmother's she wore it for many years. It is marked sterling and i am guessing glass stones but they look painted red due to the red flaking off now the glass has a green cast. Any ideas?

Efesgirl will get this one! :)
It looks like somebody used red nail polish to "paint" the glass stones. Looks like they are supposed to be green. Remove the red stuff and you will find a beautiful brooch underneath. Use a gentle, non-acetone polish remover and then wash the brooch is warm, soapy water.

The brooch has a look of Gladys and Charles Mumford, but the leaves are different, so I would say it isn't. Maybe if you have a look at their work you might come up with something, good luck with your research.
Lovely brooch!
Thank you I thought it was nail polish. I will be removing soon will be back soon with new picture and will be educating my self on the Mumfords
