Glassnutt
(11 items)
I found this at a Goodwill for $8 and was drawn to the beauty of the glass which reminds me of Loetz. There are small impressions that look like apples which carries the theme of the apple tree base. The metal was black and I spent a day with Weiman polishing it up to reveal the silver with some goldish areas here and there that actually look good on the piece. The couple, one picking an apple from the tree and the other holding an apron full of apples, are so detailed. The ground the girl is standing on has fallen apples and a blossom, again nice detail. I am guessing it is silverplate but don't know for certain. The piece is 14 1/2" tall. It has an impressed mark on one of the rings on the base that is so small I almost missed it. Magnified it reveals a W 8 C or W & C or W & G in rectangle. Anyone recognize the maker? I have scoured the internet and can find no matches. Thank you for any help!
George Waterhouse has a mark like W & C in a rectangle but better if you post picture of Mark, then itmakes research easier. Thx
Thank you dizzydave. I will look into it. As fas as photo, I tried to photo it but it is the size of a pencil tip! Magnification x8 to see the letters. I guess my photography skills are a out as good as my vision, lol.
wow! what a great piece! yay for goodwill!!
What a great find! Though, personnally, I'd prefer some patina left in details :-)
Thank you ford the love and comments. I get what you are saying about leaving some patina. There is some, but I could have left more for certain. :)
