When it rains it pours. Case in point these wonderful Roseville pieces I scored from Salvation Army this morning. All in the 1942 pattern called "Peony". These are done in yellow but there are other colors including blue, green, and pink. The basket first caught my eye as it's large at 12". I totally missed the 8" bowl on my first pass of the shelves as it was up top and a bit out of view. The flower arranger was down a shelf mixed in with other small items. I could not believe it....they are all in pristine condition too ! So three pieces of perfect Roseville for just under twenty five dollars. Even with the deflated pottery market there are still a couple hundred dollars and change worth of art pottery here. Whoever priced these didn't have a clue which is odd with the ability to easily looks these up. Happy Joy ! -Mike-
I especially like the basket! Thank goodness for employees who don't have a clue.
:-))))
Me too and Amen to that Bonnie but by the same token they will price other pieces way to high that have no value. Go figure...lol :)
I can imagine your joy :)))
Thanks Martika ...I really didn't even have to go anywhere else after this. Couldn't wait to get home..lol :)
What a beautiful find for you.
Thanks so much TimeTraveller. :)
Mike,
These are GREAT!! What an incredible find and equally incredible deal.
Thanks Scott :) ...first in the door this morning. The right place at the right time too. I doubt they would have lasted long at the prices they were marked.
Great finds Mike; your knowledge means a win!
I think it sorta sad really that someone had collected these Roseville pieces, clearly cared for them, and then they were in an op shop, totally undervalued and separated. Glad you saved them!
Thanks Karen ....Roseville is very out of fashion with the younger crowd right now. It just sits on the shelves at the antique store with the high prices from twenty years ago. I've always loved it so it's a buyers market at present. I've found more nice pieces in the last two months than in the past three years. The little flower arranger/frog is worth more than the bowl. I had no clue what it was until I checked the pattern-price guides so even I need help now and then. :)
This is just wonderful!!! So glad you rescued it.....
Thanks for the "love" and nice comment Tassie :)
These are beautiful.....but then I'm not young.
Someone on pricing who hasn't a clue is what we all need :)
lol...me neither Sklo Thanks for the "love" and comment. :)
Very beautiful examples !~
Thanks so much Phil for the "love" and compliment. :)
Thanks Ken...I like the basket too but actually the little flower arranger is a bit more unusual and interesting. :)
Mike, you score high, good for you, we can let them price those piece with no interest at higher price, so we can keep score on those piece with high value, because they have no idea what is it, I love that.
Regards
Alan
Thanks so much Alan... I love when these unexpected treasures that just pop up every once and a great while. As a collector that's the best type of find. :)
Great haul Mike!!!
Thanks Pops :)
very very nice Mike!!
Thanks for the "love" and nice comment Sean :)
Simply beautiful Mike! And, like Bonnie, I love the basket!
These are super Mike. I agree they are under appreciated, and it's a shame. But You rescued these so "shew" they're safe. They are very different. Usually just see plain pieces here.
Thanks Rick :)....and it's incredible that nothing on it was chipped or broken.
Thanks One :)... I agree they are different. Roseville does have it's own unique look.
