This is no doubt Bernard Instones work, no marks of course. I always imagined the enamel work was his earlier work. I've looked on the web but I can't find anything to say this. Luckily this necklace is in pristine condition no wear of the enamel and all the marcasites are all present. All the enamel colours blend in perfectly, I can't imagine how long it would have taken to have made something like this. The back as usual is prefect.
    Many thanks for looking.

I'm afraid kyra, many of Bernard Instone pieces are becoming scarce, except for brooch which are still available, I'm still keeping a keen look out. The necklace is a great addition to my collection, like you said the back is amazing. Thanks so much for your comment, they are always welcome.
I'm going on holiday at the end of July for a month, starting in Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia. I know you lived in Vietnam maybe you can give me some tips. :-)

How lucky you are! Helas, I didn't live in Vietnam, only my Grand parents and my parents who were born there. I had the dream to visit with my mother, but she never wanted to return in the country she had such a pain to leave :-(

I don't know if I have put this article about Bernard Instone on any of my posts. It's very interesting.

It's lovely Jean. I have seen the brooches and rings available in this enamel style Instone did and it seems much cheaper and available than his stone set pieces. I wonder why because when you look at the back of this the work is just as involved.
This is the first necklace in enamel I have seen (not that I am always looking at Instone).
It's a beauty and so wearable!

Thanks Karen, yes it is surprising that his enamel work is cheaper than that of his stone set pieces, considering the effort he must have put into making them. I love his enamel work, I don't know if you have seen his flower enamel brooches, I think I have some on one of my post, they are so colourful and wonderful to look at. I really appreciate all your comments and your lust for knowledge on the great man, well I hope so lol.

Hi Jean, This is really beautiful!!! I have noticed these enamel pieces as well, and wondered why they seemed so much cheaper than the ones with stones! Are some of these enamel pieces marked with the BI?

Would be good to know it they are earlier or later pieces! They are all lovely so I will keep looking!!!!
    17. Peasejean55 Peasejean55, 8 years ago
      Hi Judy,
Yes, they are his earlier pieces, probably made during the 1920s. They do look striking on, usually it's the brooches that you come across. Yesterday I was lucky to buy a similar design bracelet which will really compliment this necklace and two enamel rings. Also with these earlier pieces you have more chance of them being marked. I have now an array of enamel Flower brooches and two enamel necklaces and with the new bracelet which will make four.

Thanks Jean, you will have to wear your new ones at least once!!! They will look wonderful I am sure!!!
I try to wear everything at least once!!!

I also do wear my things, I think it only fair to them, I also have them all mounting in a display so I can look at them at leisure. But I'm sure Bernard would have wanted them to have been worn. :-)
