I have been clearing my father-in-law's house now he has moved in with us. The glass lamp in the photo has been in his possession for many years (he is 95) and was originally owned by his grandmother who was born in 1869 so I reckon it must be pretty old. The whole piece is 41cm high with the nude female figure 20cm high. It has a circular base with a diameter of 15cm. It looks like the base may have been produced from a mould. I cannot find any manufacturer's mark so have no idea how old it is or who made it. It's a very nice piece. Does anybody out there have any ideas about its age or origins?

Put it under a black light and see if it comes up green.

Is the switch likely to be the original fitting?

STUNNING! Can Clear Glass be uranium glass? I thought it was always green or yellow. That is an interesting cord switch - and I think that is later, probably 1960s. The Pinterest lamp showed a twisted cord.

Tried to find a ball-shaped cord switch - and can't!
