    Wondering if anyone can help me with this item. I believe it's an old trade axe from the fur trading days. It does have a mark on it if you look closely it looks like an X to me. Found in North Western Ontario Canada. Would like to get anyone's input on the age of this. Thanks so much. :)

      Looks like a Hudson Bay Trade Ax. The X is what is called a Touch Mark. 1800's

      Where they blacksmith forged like this appears to be?

      They were forged, but this kind of "mass production" pattern made for export was often made with some form of power hammer.
