    Hello everyone.

I bought this necklace 4 years ago because it was different to any other necklaces that I have....and I really like it! and it only cost $8.00.

It is very heavy and very cold! which is why I have put agate and glass.....but I am not really sure......I am sure someone here will know!!

The push in large gilt clasp is really different I think, it does not have any identification on it, the back of the clasp looks like the gilt is wearing off.
The "dark" glass beads show green sparkly colour which I hope the pictures have captured.

This necklace could probably do with a restring....little bits of wire are loose in some places.

Appreciate your thoughts on this one, thanks Judy.

That is a great necklace, Judy. I love some weight so they sit well, the triple strand is great, as is the catch.

As a jewellery lover but one who is pretty ignorant, how did you identify the beads as agate?

Thank you Pascale, glad you love it.....there is just something about it!!!

Beautiful, Judy! Always a sign of quality when the beads are separated by spacers so they don't "clack" against each other and suffer any damage.

Hi Karen, thanks .... I am really ignorant when it comes to stones and time periods as well.....I am only going on the look, feel and weight, an uneducated guess that I am hoping someone will correct for me lol!! My husband says they could be gall stones for all I know!!!

They may be composition material made, from what I can see. It is hard to tell from photos. These are lucky to have survived as with the string holding them together, that often broke. The best ones are with complete metal joining which lasts a long time. The main rectanular jewellery finding shown is a fairly common one, but nice with the beading colouring.

Hello TassieDevil, I have an idea that the white beads might be alabaster (don't know how it's called in english, the same?). Like in this necklace from 1850 bought in Paris according to our museum.

Hello Elizabeth, Alabaster........how interesting......thank you I will certainly look into that!! They do look very similar to your Museum piece don't they!!
