Magnifient French Art Deco Mascot Radiator Cap, Originals Early 1920's and Reproductions
The best of the radiator covers or covers they actually made in the period are extremely rare, although some were very beautiful with fine engraving of the chrome plated bronze construction. These radiator caps, when they come up for sale are extremely expensive, especially in the semi-fine shape they are in, in the opening photo. To get one made seems to be very rare also, with the expense and production problems. There are none out there for sale, either as for reproductions.
This is the same shape radiator cover I got with my Antinea mascot and worriedly sent overseas to be fit for a base to be made. I was rather shocked to see that they had replicated a cap and actually did, from what I can see so far, a fantastic job. I did not expect them to replicate it as it was costly and hard to do, but from the pics I see that they have achieved the impossible so far.
AS For the red Jewelled indentations they are extremely hard to do, they will see if they can achieve something that looks as good as the original as for the red enameling.
Everything was beautiful and quality made back in the day!
This is when People had taste and style and were proud of what the had ...always love your collecting, top shelf...

Hi Phil! These are awesome and I know you're right, anything like this is very rare, if ever. People then must have polished their whole car after every ride back then. Great pieces!
Thanks Nicefice and jscotto for the nice comments !~
