Very heavy for its size ... my hand should give you some dimension. Probably weighs about 50 lbs. I found this cleaning up my old home place in Arkansas. It seems to be perhaps piece of a farm machine or sawmill.
The pointed end would poke into cut end of log, like a lathe?
It's a "tailstock" off something. Would be a strange lathe to me if that's what it goes on.
I was thinking more along sawmill...
old drill press....????
That is part of a hand crank drill press, I believe.

Packrat had this pegged in #5.
Sorry Packrat didn't see #5.. lol
Any value in it or should it go to the scrapper?
Yard Art. lol
Credit where credit is due. As Packrat's agent, I should get 10% of the stamps. LOL!
But,.. But # 4 Said it was a drill press befor him ...do I get my Credit back with my half book of S& h stamps and my fame restore ..?? ...lol
OK, OK Recordman ! You used a "?" though. Just to show no bias, I think BB2 should get all the stamps. LOL !!
LOL./...............
Do not take it to the scrapper, many people collect them and will pay good money, even in this condition.
Hell STAMPS for EVERYBODY!!!
Any suggestions finding a buyer?
You asked the forbidden on CW !
Oh. I'm new to the site. Just trying to find my way through this clean up without throwing away something valuable.
You have what is called a Post Drill press and it would be mounted in a barn when electric wasn't around
So what powered it? It appears to have been belt driven.
It looks as though your missing handle to crank
I have one just like it only completly reworked If you want to talk email me wsmengdoc@gmail.com
