California art pottery - Steve Salisian Jr.

Two 1960s vintage weed vases (the tallest is 8", the smaller is 5" tall) with heavy, drippy, slightly metallicized glazes on porcelain bodies by Steve Salisian Jr.

In the 1960s, Steve Salisian Jr. had a studio on Lake Street in Pasadena, California. His work was included in the 1962 California Design 7 Show and two subsequent California Design shows (8 & 9) at the Norton Simon Museum. In 1968 he accepted a teaching position at San Jose City College where he remained for the next thirty years.

As far as I know, Salisian is still active out of his studio in Aptos, California but his current work is nothing like the 60s pieces.
