We really know little about this vase. Was told that it was brought to the US around 1930, but the story has been retold to many times.
Help me identify. Been in family 80 plus years | ||

Would love to know a little about this item my wife's family has been holding onto for years. Is it a keep or pass on. Trying hard to downsize.
need closeup of mark so We can identify. Thx
The mark is 'three' in Chinese and Japanese, and in Japan is read as San. I don't believe you would find it representing a kiln in references for either country. The technique of applied raised porcelain is called moriage and originated in Japan late in the 19th century, but was also produced in China in the 20th. 1930s is certainly a viable time frame. While this is not the most refined example of moriage, if it were mine, I would not dispose of it. Hopefully someone who knows more will contribute. Good luck.
