I cannot for the life of me find a circa date on the Gilbert plug, but I am pretty sure it had been rewired.
Here is a portable (missing case, though) motor patent 1927 White Sewing Machine I brought back to good running order.
I found it sitting in a thrift store, covered in grime and dust and a little dirt, along with some mildew on the wooden base. I talked them down to a good, low price on it.
It took an hour, but when I got done removing the grime and dust and powering away much rust and all the mildew, as well as doing a light repair to a splinter, I plugged it in and tested the bulb and pedal.
It works great. So I moisturized the rubber wheel to have it give better grip, and now my parent desires to use it (after she made sure the bobbin was still there).
Thanks. Considering that the hole thing was grimy like this before:

It looks nice again.
