    This piece is Brass and Small... 2 1/4" x 1 3/4" x 1/8" ... Pull the top piece and the curved bars on each side begin to move outward... No Markings on this piece... A Floral type looking design is on one side (see Pictures).. Asked around and no one can identify this piece... Found in an old home and would like to know what it is... Thanks for your help...

      Sorry... Made a Mistake on the Posting.... "When you squeeze the two curved sides together the Ball top extends out... or... if you Pull on the Ball on top, the curved sides squeeze inwards" Thank you
