These items are metal and commercially made by the looks of them. I'm unclear as to whether the pieces are meant to go together and used as a tool of if they perform some function separately. The circular piece easily comes unattached or attached. The two longer pieces are about a foot in 15 inches in length. My guess is they are a tool used for some activity associated with hot water or some other heating source.
These are fire starters, they were dipped into kerosene, lit on fire, and then placed under logs in a fireplace to set them ablaze.
Hey thanks Rob, which ends were soaked in kerosene? What's the purpose of the large circle ring? Just trying to imagine exactly how they worked.
I'm waiting to know how this works too. Wire isn't going to hold any fuel.
The coil is filled with asbestos, this is the end that is soaked in kerosene. It's used just like the fire starter pots with pumice wands. Would guess that the large ring isn't very functional except to keep the wire wands together.
