Finally after months of nothing being displayed in the jewelry cases at Salvation Army....Viola ! My friend came out of the production room door carrying several ring boxes which she said all contained silver pieces. Most had some sort of turquoise stones or beads mounted in them but this one I recognized as amber. I don't own any amber pieces so this seemed the logical choice but the others were very nice too just over priced. Definitely not the couple dollars I used to pay or I would have bought them all. It has a nice open side mounting to let in maximum light. There are a lot of inclusions and the color is quite nice. Not a very large ring. It only weights 4 grams, stone and all and barely fits my fat little finger. So I figure it's a size 6 or 7. The band has a worn .925 mark inside but no maker mark. So I'm guessing it's older but whether the amber is "Baltic" or not I can't say as I'm in no way an expert. I was surprised to learn that a test for amber is that it floats in salt water. Very interesting ! -Mike-

It is a beautiful ring. A shame that "thrift stores" are out to gouge the public in regard to jewelry. One of my favorite shops still screws up and put silver out with the costume jewelry, so I get it for next to nothing. However,I will pay their price for something that I know is far more valuable but will not a pay big price for a little sliver of silver.

Pity it doesn't fit well Mike, it's a great ring and could be worn well by a man.
My op shops NEVER have any silver or gold. I think they all now put it aside after donation and sell it elsewhere. I can't blame them for wanting to make as much money as possible but I sure am disappointed.

Thanks so much for the "loves" everyone and nice comments Karen, Bonnie, Pops, Tassie, Nice, Fort, and Scott. ...... it is a pretty little ring although I don't imagine it's terribly valuable. The $12.99 price seemed fair to me and it came in a nice brown velvet box too. :)
