Late 50's - early 60's my dad came home with it one night. He had a jewelry store in downtown Sacramento and many salesmen would stop in to sell their merchandise. There are no markings that I can see. The outside rectangle is 32" x 20" and the inside rectangle is 25-1/4" x 13-1/4". It looks like real leaves (eucalyptus ?) and broken pieces of glass, heavily coated with clear substance. The background is a plastic sheet with thin white lines coming from the face of clock, type of sunbeam effect. Finished with four pieces of gold metal screen between the two rectangles. Very mid-century. It is a strange but a stunning time piece. I have never seen another even close to it.
I've never seen an "art piece" quite like this either. I take it that the movement is electric or battery powered? Can you provide any information or photos of the movement?
Those are bamboo leaves. Very interesting clock!
It's a battery clock, I will take a pic of the back of the clock later. Bamboo, thank you, that makes more sense.
