This small bracelet was engraved for "Peggy" and was a gift from Bob-- it carries an engraved "Love, Bob" on the inside.

Bob (I am not sure of his full name) had this made when he served in the 509th Bomb Group. Each end has locations engraved: "Marianas Islands, 1945" and "Tinian Island, 1945".

The group was created in late 1944 with the sole purpose to deliver the Atomic Bomb. In May 1945, the group was relocated to Tinian Island (in the Marianas). This was the staging area for delivery of both Atomic bombs on Japan.

Post war the group was relocated to Roswell, NM, where it was at the center of the alien spacecraft controversy.

I have one of these bracelets. It was sent to my mother from my Uncle who flew on the photography plane that went in after the bomb dropped. Except for the names, its identical to the one you have. Any idea of the value?

Thanks Mark-- post yours when you get a chance and I can give you a ballpark figure on value.

I look forward to seeing it!

Very neat, does your daughter get to wear this one as well?
    9. scottvez scottvez, 13 years ago
NOPE-- this one is NOT for wearing!

The others, while unique items are replaceable-- this would be a hard one to replace.
