Hello. I was hoping someone could help with my doll. Under her wig she shows "Handwerck Germany" with numbers above "28? and in between these two is something like "MA??
She has a composite body, ball jointed at wrists, elbows, shoulders, knees and hips. She doesn't have pierced ears or sleeping eyes.
She was passed to me by a lady in her mid sixties and told me it was her mothers.
If anyone can help with info, i'd be very grateful, thankyou.
Handwerck made some beautiful bisque dolls . I can't see Mold number on yours . Her head is bisque and she is on a fully jointed composition body . Sad to see head has large crack in back which really depreciates her value and should be reinforced from inside head at some time to Keep it stable . She dates 1890's-1920's
I can't see the MA but could it be MAX ? There must be another number by 28 maybe 287 ? I can not see the numbers on photo .
Here is a Max Handwerck doll that sold

Just a foot note she did not have a name they are referred to by their mold number and her's is 287-or maybe 283 if you can make it out .
Thank you very much for the information. I will try and see if I can make out another number for the mold number..there is so much old glue!
