I got this beautiful hand blown glass snail at the flea market. It is a signed piece by Robert Moretti. I paid $7.00 for it and the Antiques Roadshow appraised it at 300.-500. Not bad for a flea market find.
Roberta Moretti ?
Maybe but it looks like Roberto or Roberta and Morelli or Moretti??
I like the style and colors. Very nice.
Could it be ROBERTO MORETTI ? See youtube:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2nXU9bmcq4
it says there in the write up [ quote ] : "" ......Alessandro and his brother, Roberto Moretti were major contributors in the mid-1950's modern Italian/American glass movement, while still retaining their European culture. Many of the crystalline and vibrant colored art forms depicted in the Book are displayed in the private collections of various Glass Galleries and Museums in the United States and abroad......"" ( Read all posted in info there )
so maybe that is the signature?>
I believe the Moretti brothers (( Alessandro and Roberto )) moved from Italy to the US and were employed by PILGRIM ART GLASS in the '50s but that they had mainly produced various animals for them....so there is some more info fro you
Also it is my understanding that The Moretti family has published a self entitled book a few year back entitled "Glassmen of Murano - Born of Fire" in memory of both Alessandro Moretti and Roberto Moretti (Franco Moretti's father and uncle).
