Made for Hannibal Lector. LOL !! Welcome to CyberAsylum, aka: CW. Is it heavy enough to have been used in stonework ?
Fairly light in the hand. Probably weighs about 6-8 oz. blade is about .030 thick.
So, it's for much lighter work, but doubt it's a jeweler's tool. Going to take a little longer. Any other details might help. You can post 4 pix. Idea: Boat caulking tool? How wide is the "chisel" part ? Where was it found ?
It's a grafting froe for use on fruit trees.
RobH, I believe you may have hit it! This came from a basement collection of woodworking and gardening tools over 100-years old. The owner was known to have propogated Camellia Japonica which were frequently grafted.
