Another recent purchase, I can't quite figure out the purpose of this burner. I assume it is for metal working and the mouth pictures is for placing items to be heated. There is a mutual 45a burner within what is labeled a mutual 3 housing attached to what appears to be a very old propane tank . Has anyone ever seen anything like this or know it's purpose?
If it didn't have that lip sticking up, I would have guessed for melting plumber's lead. Now, I'm at a bit of a loss. Heating horse shoes ?

I helped a plumber that used one of these, melting lead for the cast drain seals and heating soldering irons.
The local sheet metal guy had one as well for installing the old half round gutters. He used it helping me make a copper sink about 35 years ago.
The wealth of knowledge here never disappoints me. Thank you all so much for your information.
It is indeed, a tinner's furnace.
