Bottom confirms to me that it is mid 20th century at the earliest.

Construction with screw holes showing how it is held together and the lack of much age discoloration to the wood is consistent with 1950s+.

Disappointed, but thank you for your expertise. Still love it, even if the table and I are the same age!

So, screws were not used in fine wood work a 100 years ago? Is that what one should always look for? If screws have replaced or reinforced an old piece (antique) does that totally deminish it's value?

Forgot to ask too..."Dovetail" joints are not a good deciding factor?

I look at the totality of the indicators: screw joints, dovetails, wood patina....

Screws (and nails) are often found on antique furniture-- just depends on what type/ where/ how they are used to determine if they are original to the piece/ modern supports/ indicators of a modern piece.

Hand cut dovetails usually indicate age or quality workmanship.

Some additional thoughts on dovetails-- if they are uniform in size and shape and distance between, you are probably dealing with a machined dovetails.
