    Hi,

I inherited this clock from my aunt and uncle and just recently had it repaired. Just got it running and chimes on 1/2 hour and hour. One question is, the small center opening is labeled F/S. Is this to adjust the running time fast or slow?? Also there is a J2 stamped in the bottom. Any history from the manufacture time frame would be appreciated. We were told by the repair shop it was pre WW1.

    L: 18" W: 5-1/2" H: 9-1/4" Face: 5-1/2"

    Thanks for any info.

    Bobby K

Hello Bobby. Welcome to Collectors Weekly. Your Seth Thomas "Sentinel 2" is from circa 1928. It could have been manufactured several years before or after that date but it was after WWI but certainly before WWII. The F/S is for regulating the speed of the clock's mechanical movement. Faster or Slower. Be carefully using it. You can easily damage the regulating mechanism with the winding key (small end). Don't force it. There should be no resistance unless the mechanism is at the end of it's range. Hope that solves your mystery. If so, please indicate Mystery Solved in your listing. If you have more questions, please ask away.
