I'm in friendly competition with a good friend who also sells to/gives me jewelry. Early this morning we bumped into each other at a flea market. We both went for the jewelry, of course! She was at a table merrily picking out great stuff. What was left for me, I wondered.
This necklace was left for me. She didn't look at it because she has one exactly the same at home that isn't silver. Soooo.....lol~! I'll see her on Thursday, anyway, and take a look at what she bought.
It's more than 50 grams of silver. Alternating textured and smooth links. These "collarbone" necklaces are my favorite style. I have no hope of finding the silversmith initials GOU, as all searches so far have been fruitless. I expect that this was made in Germany.

@martika - I used to, before I sold much of it off! My husband said I had more jewelry than all of the neighborhood shops together....I think he was exaggerating just a bit!

karen - it definitely is solid, and takes a bit of getting used to because of the weight. I suspect that many necklaces with these kinds of catches are from the mid-century, give or take some years. I have another one with a woven design that has the same kind of catch. Bracelets, too.
