Hanimex PR-45 Lightmeter in original packing with its shaped zipped leather case.
Film camera professionals in days of yore would use one of these lightmeter exposure meters. To get the correct light for taking a photo, hats of them I've never really understood the things!
I like the fact that having made it, they added style to it by making a little leather zipped case for it. Some lightmeters use a battery but this one uses a selenium cell which degrades over time.
I learned how to use a hand-held light meter in my college photography class, but always preferred using a cheat-sheet or aperture-setting chart instead, and using the 3-shot-over-and-under-exposure-method. That is, you take 3 shots of the same image: 1, the "correct" metered exposure; 2, an "over exposed" shot with the f-stop or shutter speed set one stop lower than the "correct" metered exposure; and 3, an "under exposed" shot with the f-stop or shutter speed set one stop higher than the "correct" metered exposure. Of course, the above method works best in studio settings and the like and would be inappropriate for action shots, for example.
Thank you NevadaBlades.
