My mother, who is 77 now use to play with this doll. It is in my possesion now. I know she sent it to the Doll Hospital a couple of times which stated the doll is 19 or 20 inches. One receipt said circa 1937, vinyl composition, and sleeping eyes. Could someone please tell me what year it is and possibly the value?
Is there any marks on her head just above the hair line or on her back? I want to say she is an R&B but I always mess dolls up with eyes like that, could be American Character. I feel sure she should be marked
With no marks, and the bent arm I'm going towards a Bright Star doll. They made several different dolls (IE size, theme, wigs ect) Here is an example of a Bright Star doll. The age fits I think they started making them in the 30's

Alright my post didn't work!
I'm trying so hard it's not working when I put the link in.
She is not a Shirley doll, they had dimples. From the no marks and the bent arm I would say she is a 'Bright Star" doll. They began making Bright Star dolls in the 30's. Where as Bright Star did have a Shirley look alike they have very distinct dimples. They made several variations of Bright Star dolls (different sizes, themes. and wigs) Here is an example of a Bright Star doll.
Sorry not working. tinyurl.com/6ztqbo8 (put http:// in front of that and lets hope)
