I don't like carnival glass normally but this milk jug with its varity of greens and other colours depending on lighting environment caught my eye.
Found it today and I'd never heard of Westmorland glass before. Its pressed glass you can feel the seams on body and handle. Someone previously used it as a tee tree candle holder which isn't its intended purpose but on bringing it home I tried putting milk in but it turns white milk into a vile looking colour. OK its still white milk but its rather off putting.
So another day and another lesson in collecting. Wow there is even a listing for Westmorland on this site, proves how ignorant of collecting I am!
nice find but this is a Westmoreland reproduction by Russo, as indicated by the 'R' in keystone and the bars surrounded by 'Westmoreland'. Russo does not make glass but rather contracts with various glass houses to make their glass. Their specialty/motto is "Antique glassware being made new today". The pattern here is Westmoreland's 'Thousand Eye'.
typo: that should be "Rosso"
I think this is the pitcher from the miniature water set.
Thank you Tall Cakes. I still love it.
no doubt, it's very nice! : )
Beautiful colors:)
