Hi I acquired this when I bought a house and its contents and have been interested to find out more about it. It is a glass flask bound in some kind of fabric with brass strips down the sides. It has a ground glass stopper and a pewter ? screw top. It measures 75mmH x 35mmW x 18mmD. I wondered if it was a scent bottle , a smelling salts bottle or an extremely small hip flask , any info would be appreciated.

Is it made of rope or string? If so could be sailors ropework... http://www.maritimeheritageeast.org.uk/exhibitions/sailors-ropework/sailors-ropework

      Hi
Thanks for your info .I am not sure whether it is rope or string, it is smooth to the touch which I suppose could point to string , however it is the flatness to the strands which is confusing.
      Regards
      Gary
