One of those fortunate online auction finds - listed as a buy it now and on for just 2 minutes when I spotted it - Hammer down!
Being more of a 'Art Glass Basket Case' as opposed to a 'Art Glass Basket Collector' this is the only basket in my collection and will probably remain so until I come across another, 'just gotta have it' like this one.
I did a little basic search for a kralik basket with this decor on here and found that Jagsrock has a bigger brother to this 'little sister' (http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/85258-kralik-millefiori-basket-10-1-2-tall).
This one is just 6" tall, which as you can tell makes the handle 3" and the actual basket a mere 3" so although diminutive it's dreamy!
Polished pontil and a subtle pastel pink handle.
Easy to see why you just had to have it!
I agree with Al but the mirrored iridescence and canes/millefiori are Kralik. In plainer colours, ID is hard, as for much Art Deco and tango production.
As for the cinqfoil detail to the handles, this might link with others. A very nice Kralik décor.
In full agreement too - and frankly, as I, as many others are not entirely enamoured with glass baskets, I wouldn't have bought it - but it's Kralik and in a great decor so it was a no brainer.
ABSOLUTELY STUNNING !!!!
Actually in regards to baskets, although many look the same at a quick glance, there are subtle differences in execution, handle prunts and of course décors which allow the determination in many cases, of the production house.
This basket can be easily identified as Kralik on décor alone.
Great example..... It seems that although many of us are not really enamored with baskets, we all have a secret, and not so secret stash of them. :-)
