This was my maternal grandmother's green gold and enamel locket handed down to my Mother and then to me. My grandmother was married in 1916, so we think this was a gift during her married years. She lived to 1951.

The enamel and chase work are exquisite. The chain is a 26" foxtail. The enamel motif is on both sides of the bail. There are no marks on the locket. I took it to the Antiques Roadshow this past June at which the appraiser said it appeared to be Danish with a Russian influence during the Edwardian era.

    Any ideas?

I don't think you're going to get a much better appraisal than the one from the Roadshow. The expert was able to view it in person, which makes a difference.

      Greetings!

I have a retail value from the Antiques Roadshow which is very generous.

My main question is country of origin. The appraiser thought it looked Danish with Russian influence. Russian's heavily mark their gold work, so it's not Russian, nor French nor Italian.

That's a beauty! Nice diamond too and perfect condition.
Some custom made pieces weren't marked....

kyratango - Thank you for your kind words. It hadn't occurred to me, this piece may have been a commissioned piece. Excellent thought. Thanks again. SMM
