      They were silent film stars.
      Charlie Chaplin
      Gloria Swanson
      Rudolph Valentino
      Douglas Fairbanks

Some went on to make "talkies".

Possible that Chaplin's and Valentino's autographs are genuine. However, Valentino died in 1926.
The other two are studio publicity photographs.

Pretty much anything signed in blue is an authentic autograph (or green or red). Black you have to look CLOSELY with a jewelers loupe. (Most you can authenticate via examples on the web.) SOMETIMES (rarely) the white is a handwritten autograph.

100 MORE!?!?!?! I'd love to find a cache like that!

Your best way to find out is to look them up - start with sold items on ebay. Look at items up for sale (some may be very common). Google them, too. You can visually authenticate with a search like: Charlie Chaplin Autograph. (look at the image results) etc. (That is a young Charlie). Same with Gloria. Your grandmother must have been a young teen in the 1920s-30s. KEEP anything you find with them!! (Letters, envelopes, etc.)

That particular photo of Charlie sold here!

You may need to have them professionally authenticated. (Julien's is a good place...they specialize in Hollywood memorabilia.)
