This piece was left inside a home that a relative purchased after the original, elderly owner passed around 1946. It was removed & stored in the garage for over 50 years (no climate control).
I've seen somewhat similar shaped ones posted on ebay, but nothing identical. Could it be a Victorian oak sideboard from the 1800's?
Anyone know what kind of animals these are? Griffins & birds?
The carved center of bottom piece looks like an urn holding fruit, berries &/or nuts with some odd scroll work coming out of the bottom of the urn. I have filled in missing areas with wood filler.
This is a 3 part piece as you can see from photos. It is approx 6' tall. The wood bottom was warped & split, has been removed - the nail heads in it were irregular. The rest of the piece is dove tail joined. All three drawers have ornate, gold looking (brass?) key hole "covers" for a skeleton key.
I was in a hurry to get photographs taken before a storm hit - forgot to clean & put the mirror back in - it is propped beside the piece & needs to be re-silvered. I cannot find any marks on the piece, so if anyone knows anything about it, please let me know! My photos are right side up, don't know why they don't appear correctly on here & the tops look cropped.
    Thank you,
    PLTKY

Nice sideboard. You don't show any of the joints, but based on the overall appearance I would think 1890s- 1910 for the piece.
