So for those of you who are scientifically inclined, you probably already know that snake phobia is built right into human beings' DNA. Studies have shown that if you show an infant a snake, they will instinctively recoil. Like most people, I didn't have a big issue with snakes as a kid, seeing snakes on TV or in books, visiting the snake house at the San Diego Zoo, was just part of the routine of life. As an adult my fear of snakes grew, and there's a couple of times I'd seen snakes in action on television that totally freaked me out. I am now at the stage where seeing snakes in pictures or on TV makes me feel physically sick. I can't think of anything else that creates in me that feeling of utter fear and revulsion except snakes. They have to be real snakes, though even in art or depictions such as this ring, I have to first think sssssnake, yeeeesh, before getting over it, lol. Anyway, as for this ring, I picked it and another ring of an owl made of the same materials because they were unique and interesting. For obvious reasons, I am not overly fond of this snake ring, but have to admire the design and it does look nice on my finger, which is doubly ironic since most rings don't flatter me. What a world we live in, hey? I hope you like seeing this ring, and thanks for looking.
This is the only snake that I am not afraid!!!
It's beautiful!
I have no fear of snakes. When I lived in Tustin CA, I went into a Pets-Are-Us shop and had a ball python (a baby, just three feet long) draped over my shoulders. What a beautiful animal.
:-)))))
I swear, Beebs, you are going to be the death of me!!!!! :P
Nicspawee, thank you, I'm glad you like the ring. :)

It's a great ring Katherine. A perfect python!
Snake's fear is in birds DNA too, I showed a wooden articulate snake to my baby magpie (found in a Paris Street!) And it screamed the alert shout!
Your ring is beautiful Katherine!
Thanks for the love, TassieDevil, racer4four, and kyratango. :)
Karen, now there's a thing to ponder, "perfect python," yeesh!! lol ;)
kyratango, that is too interesting and cool and funny!! Thanks for the compliment, my friend, glad you like the ring. :)
I've told this story before, on other forums: when my daughter was a bitty girl, she was fascinated with The X-Files TV show. One evening, I walked out into the living room, it was dark with only the glow from the TV screen, and my kid sitting cross-legged on the floor watching X-Files. I stopped next to her and looked at the screen, it was a scene where, as I recall, Ducovny left a suspect handcuffed to a stair bannister and after he leaves a huge python comes slowly slithering down the bannister which of course freaks the guy out but he can't get away and the snake proceeds to devour him. You can imagine my horror watching this scene develop, but I couldn't move or look away. It happens that my daughter's bare toe brushed my ankle at that moment. I leaped straight up, on top of which they must have heard my scream in Ecuador. :P
Great story Katherine. .....was your daughter spooked?
Here's my snake story. After my dad died my sis and I were staying at his house in country NSW. I was sleeping on the floor in the lounge room and late at night was sitting up with a lamp reading. I heard a noise and a coral snake was at the sliding door tapping to get to the light. I saw my sister next morning and told her a snake had been trying to get in. I think Sydney heard the scream of "Where is it where is it???" as she leaped from the floor to the table. What a jump!! Awesome.
ROFLOLOLOLOL!!! That is an awesome story, Karen. :)
Here's my other snake story. I was at my grandmother's house and the TV was on, and there was a documentary about snakes. Against my will, I was watching the camera closing in on a snake who was recoiling back, maw open, fangs out, clearly ready to pounce. I was caught, mesmerized. Suddenly the snake leapt forward and struck the camera. I jumped backwards and screamed like I'd lost my mind every obscenity I could hurl at that snake. :P
LOL. I really shoudn't laugh at your feelings Katherine.......... ;)
It would hurt my feelings if you didn't laugh, Karen, LOL! I'm also scared of haunted houses and scary movies. Once when I was a kid, I was lying on my bed reading The Exorcist and was totally absorbed in a particularly suspenseful passage. My grandparents had come home from work, and my grandfather had taken off his work shoes, came quietly into the hallway and dropped the shoes a few feet from where I was reading. Bet you never knew someone could leap vertically from a bed like in the cartoons, well I did. :P
Es tan difícil escribir en Inglés, así que usen el translator de googlee. One day my we were in the kitchen, say I was ten, ther was a cknock on the door, my mother open, and there was nobody there, another cnock she opened again the door, she look to the floor and there ther was a beautiful culebra a non venenous snake, so green, so beautiful....
Thanks for the love, Trey, and kivatinitz. :)
