Japanese spatter glass

Mid-century Japanese export glass seems to be attracting some attention. If you don't look too closely, some of the ware gives the impression of Czech and/or Murano. If you do look closely, it lacks the elegance and true craftsmanship and sometimes seems mass-produced, but it is not without its charm.

The blue vase in the first picture stands 7 1/4" (18.3 cm) tall and the yellow vase is around 5" (13 cm) tall. They are marked as shown in the second picture. I suspect these two vases are pre-WW2, but I don't know for sure - the quality is a bit higher than that of the next two.

The two vases in the third picture are both around 6 3/4" (17.2 cm) tall. This type of ware appears mass-produced (and probably was). It was inexpensive glassware imported by the USA in the 1960s-70s. It came in many shapes, sizes, and color combinations.The fourth picture shows the tiny paper labels on the undersides of the vases. These labels were quick to come off.

Familiarity leads to some logical assumptions and a lot of this sort of often mis-identified glassware should be (at least for the time being) in the "probably Japanese" pile. It's not Murano and it's not Czech.
